This Privacy Policy applies to the websites, apps, events and other services operated by Awkwards Only (hereinafter referred to as “Services”).

3. What Information We Collect

When you register for an account to use our Services, we collect a variety of information and data about you. The information and data we collect helps to enhance your experience with our Services and verify our users. Since the goal of our Service is to connect you with other compatible users, we rely upon the information and data you provide us in order to do so.   • When you subscribe to a paid account or make a purchase directly from us (rather than through a platform such as iOS or Android), you provide us and/or our payment service provider with Information, such as your debit or credit card number or other financial data.
  • Once you register, you will be able to review and change this Information at any time just by logging into your account. It is your responsibility for what Information is provided in your account details.

B. Information Collected When You Use Our Services

When you use or access our Services, we collect other Information about which features you have used, how you have used them, and the devices you use to access our Services.
  • Usage Information:  We collect Information about your activity on our Services, for instance how you use them (e.g., date and time you logged in, features you’ve used, searches, clicks and pages which have been shown to you, referring webpage address, advertising that you click on) and how you interact with other users (e.g., users you connect and interact with, time and date of your exchanges, number of messages you send and receive).
  • Device Information:  When you create an account and use our Services, you voluntarily provide us with some basic personal data for our Services to work including but not limited to:

    • Mobile device ID, model and manufacturer, operating system, and version data; and
    • Data on your wireless and mobile network connection, like your service provider and signal strength.
  • Other Information with your consent:  If you have given us access to your location in your device settings, when you use our Services, we will collect data about WiFi access points as well as other location data about your longitude and latitude and may save your device’s coordinates to offer certain features to you. The collection of your geolocation may occur in the background even when you are not using the Services if the permission you gave us expressly permits such collection. If you decline permission for us to collect your geolocation, we will not collect it.

We may use cookies, web beacons, tracking pixels, and other tracking technologies (“Cookies”) to help customize our Services and improve your experience. We are not responsible for the actions of third parties with whom you share personal or sensitive data, and we have no authority to manage or control third-party solicitations. If you no longer wish to receive correspondence, emails or other communications from third parties, you are responsible for contacting the third party directly.

7. Your Rights

We want you to be in control of your Information, so we have provided you with the following tools:
  • Access / Update tools in the service.   Tools and account settings that help you to access, rectify or delete Information that you provided to us and that is associated with your account directly within the service.
  • Device permissions.   Mobile platforms have permission systems for specific types of device data and notifications, such as phone book and location services as well as push notifications. You can change your settings on your device to either consent or oppose the collection of the corresponding Information or the display of the corresponding notifications. Of course, if you do that, certain aspects of our Services may lose full functionality.
  • Deletion. You can delete your account at any time.

We want you to be aware of your privacy rights. Here are a few key points to remember:
  • Reviewing your Information.  Applicable privacy laws may give you the right to review the Information we keep about you (depending on the jurisdiction, this may be called right of access, right of portability, or variations of those terms). You can request a copy of your Information from us.
  • Device permissions.   Mobile platforms have permission systems for specific types of device data and notifications, such as phone book and location services as well as push notifications. You can change your settings on your device to either consent or oppose the collection of the corresponding Information or the display of the corresponding notifications. Of course, if you do that, certain aspects of our Services may lose full functionality.
For your protection and the protection of all of our users, we may ask you to provide proof of identity before we can answer the above requests.

Keep in mind, we may reject requests for certain reasons, including if the request is unlawful or if it may infringe on trade secrets or intellectual property or the privacy of another user.  If you wish to receive Information relating to another user, such as a copy of any messages you received from him or her through our Services, the other user will have to contact us to provide their written consent before the Information is released.

Also, we may not be able to accommodate certain requests to object to the processing of Information, notably where such requests would not allow us to provide our service to you anymore.  

  • Uninstall. You can stop all Information collection by an app by uninstalling it using the standard uninstall process for your device. If you uninstall the app from your mobile device, the unique identifier associated with your device will continue to be stored. If you re-install the application on the same mobile device, we will be able to re-associate this identifier to your previous transactions and activities.
  • Accountability. In certain countries, including in the European Union, you have a right to lodge a complaint with the appropriate data protection authority if you have concerns about how we process your Information.

8. Residents of California

For users who are California residents, the data we may collect falls within the following categories of “personal information”, as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
  • Identifiers, such as name and location;
  • Personal information, as defined in the California customer records law, such as contact (including email and telephone number) and financial information;
  • Characteristics of protected classifications under California or federal law (if you choose to provide them), such as age, gender identity, marital status, sexual orientation, race, ancestry, national origin, religion, and medical conditions;
  • Commercial information, such as transaction information and purchase history;
  • Biometric information;
  • Internet or network activity information, such as browsing history and interactions with our Services;
  • Geolocation data, such as mobile device location;
  • Audio, electronic, visual and similar information, such as photos and videos;
  • Professional or employment-related information, such as work history and prior employer;
  • Non-public education information; and
  • Inferences drawn from any of the “personal information” listed above to create a profile or summary about, for example, an individual’s preferences and characteristics.
If you are a California resident, you can request a notice disclosing the categories of “personal information” as defined by the CCPA about you that we have shared with third parties during the preceding calendar year. Please specify in your request the details you would like to know, including any specific pieces of “personal information” you would like to access. For your protection and the protection of all of our users, we may ask you to provide proof of identity before we can answer such a request.

9. Security of Your Information

We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your Information. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the Information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse. Any Information disclosed through the use of our Services is vulnerable to interception and misuse by unauthorized parties. Therefore, we cannot guarantee complete security if you provide Information. Any transmission of your Information while using our Services is at your own risk.
We may suspend your use of all or part of our Services without notice if we suspect or detect any breach of security. If you believe that your account or Information is no longer secure, please contact us immediately.

10. How Long We Retain Your Information

We retain your Information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose(s) for which it was collected and to comply with applicable laws, and your consent to such purpose(s) remains valid after termination of your relationship with us. Except for Information required for accounting or record-keeping purposes, we may automatically delete your Information after 24 months of inactivity unless we have a valid reason to retain such Information.

11. Children's Privacy

Our Services are restricted to users who have reached the age of majority in their respective jurisdiction. We do not permit minor users under the age of majority to use our Services and we do not knowingly collect Information from anyone under the age of majority. If you are a minor, we request that you do not submit Information to us. If you suspect that a user is a minor, please contact us immediately. If we become aware that a minor has registered with us and provided us with Information, we will take steps to terminate that person’s registration.

We reserve the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy at any time and for any reason. We will alert you about any changes by updating the “Last updated” date on the first page of this Policy.
